Enhancing Physical and Mental Wellbeing Through Data and Personal Health Coaching

Health is more than the absence of disease. It is a multidimensional concept that encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Increasingly, this idea is being embraced not just by people looking to live longer and better, but by organisations that are seeking better ways to support their greatest asset – their employees – through more meaningful, and sustained health optimisation programmes that matter to them and to their families.

Chi Tree Health offers comprehensive testing and personalised programmes designed to optimise physical and mental health. With a clinic at Capital Tower, and the newest at Camden Medical, Chi Tree Health’s multidisciplinary team of nutritionists, naturopaths, dietitians, health coaches and psychologists provide specialist consultations to both individuals and corporates.

When it comes to the latter, Chi Tree Health’s Marketing & Partnership Consultant - Mei-Yi notes a growing trend: employee wellbeing matters more than ever. Statistics and evidence support the importance of an organisational wellness culture, and organisations are investing in their employees’ health and wellness.

They understand that productivity and performance increases with a happier and healthier workforce. By improving the physical and mental health of their people, organisations elevate their employee value proposition that in turn further attracts, and retains talent.

Chi Tree Health’s Organisational Psychologist, Mariella Hutton, points out, “As the pandemic wave of burnout and resignations show, it is not just up to the individual to manage their stress and wellness, but the organisation’s responsibility too. More and more, they are thinking of how to protect their employees.”

“This can take the form of facilitating a Mental Health Day event or running a series of talks”, says Mariella. “But it could also be a deeper look into understanding drivers of mental wellbeing through focus groups or workshops that in turn aid the development of more targeted interventions including but not limited to psychological safety, burnout prevention, or long-term employee assistance programmes.”

Customising the Journey of Health

Acknowledging that health can look different for every individual and organisation, Chi Tree Health offers testing and interventions that meet the diverse needs and preferences of their clients. Programmes are personalised based on detailed analysis, specialist testing, and health data. Certified health coaches regularly engage clients to deliver the programme, and help sustain behavioural and lifestyle changes. Focused outcomes are aligned with the health goals of every individual client.

At this practice, health screening goes beyond the typical blood draw and one-off consultation. For one, they offer a comprehensive blood test that not only checks for the ‘usual suspects’, but also looks at over 50 biomarkers to form a fuller picture of health. This insight allows for earlier interventions guided by their team of specialists to help avoid the onset of chronic diseases.

Annual health screenings only resonate when the results are understood, and interventions to reverse health conditions of concern are designed and paced to the individual’s motivation.

An extensive health and lifestyle questionnaire allows the team’s naturopaths to develop a whole-of-person view of each client for a meaningful consultation. This helps health experts like Toni Baker and Alicia Davenport to tailor interventions appropriately, and that are specific to each client for better results.

We all know that introducing positive lifestyle changes is hard, and sustaining these changes gets even harder. Every health journey is optimised through data-enhanced health coaching.

Amirah Rahmat, Health Coach and Nutritionist, explains that a digital health dashboard is set up for every client which gives a comprehensive view of the person’s health screening results. It also shows historical vs current health data to assess where their health is heading, and gives a view of 70 metrics including activity, sleep, hydration, and calories burnt. These trackers, consolidated into a single view, act as real-time information flow (drawn from up to 20 health trackers connected to their dashboard) showing how each change is impacting their progress.

“Based on this information, we can help clients to monitor and review their habits, understand their data, and make the necessary changes to achieve their health goals,” says Amirah.

Not only does this drive personal accountability, but also motivation. Most importantly, Chi Tree Health partners each person and empower them with the tools and knowledge to become more active participants in their own journey.

As Lisa Sofiar – Health & Wellness Coach - puts it, “We honour each person as the expert of their own lives, and mobilise their own autonomous motivation to enact behaviour change.”

Mental Wellbeing and Physical Health are Inextricably Linked

Although research is ongoing to better understand the pathways through which the mind and body communicate with each other, health experts know one thing is clear: when we take care of our mind, it benefits our body – and vice versa. It’s all connected.

Chi Tree Health’s passion is to significantly upgrade the current health care experience by integrating physical and mental health. This is the mission driving the founders, medical board, and practice team on a daily basis, and by leveraging their tools and technology, they can make a difference at scale. This team has a ‘healthcare is not sickcare’ motto, and they’re here to help us live better for longer.
